The Paediatric First Aid course is designed to meet the requirements of OFSTED & EYFS First Aid Provision covering young people up to age 18.Additionally, the programme meets the recommendations of the Health &Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 issued by the Health & Safety Executive for the ‘Appointed Person’. Our blended paediatric first aid course is in 2 parts as follows: eLearning to complete before the practical training day We ask that you supply learner email addresses in advance of registration. The eLearning code will be emailed to the learner with a course confirmation. This will give the learner access to the online portal and student resources for use during the course. We suggest learners use a computer/laptop or tablet to complete this module. The eLearning takes approximately 6 hours to complete and can be completed over several days prior to the practical training. Practical Training Day on the 10th of March 2026 Students will attend 6 hours of face-to-face training with our qualified First Aid Trainers. Please note all learners must complete an end of day practical assessment. Course Content: 1. The role of the first aider 2. Resuscitation (infant, child, and Adult CPR) 3. Allergic reaction 4. Unresponsive casualty treatment 5. Communication and casualty care 6. Asthma and diabetic emergencies 7. Choking 8. Bone, joint and muscle injuries 9. Managing an emergency 10. Eye injuries 11. Sharing effective and efficient ways to ensure that transcription skills are taught consistently in these year groups. · Discussing the relationships between reading and talk as vehicles to teach writing with a specific focus on what ‘oral composition’ means for pupils in this phase. · Exploring strategies to identify pupils who need support in writing and what that support might look like. · Identifying what the writing culture looks like for staff and pupils in your school. · Time to discuss handwriting; spelling and proof reading & editing expectations and appropriate activities.
